Crafting Creativity

through fashion and couture excellence.

We believe in the power of a stitch. Not just as a technique but also as a way of building something lasting.

A skill. A livelihood. A community.

Our work is economic empowerment and artistry, in the same stitch.

Who We Are

Born at the intersection of craft and community investment.

The Craft & Couture Institute was born out of a conviction that two things belong together: world-class craftsmanship and community investment. We are a Pittsburgh-based institute training aspiring makers in the textile arts while offering bespoke tailoring services to clients who value quality and care.

We exist at the intersection of two missions: equipping individuals with in-demand textile and garment-making skills, and offering bespoke tailoring to clients who value craftsmanship over mass production.

“We believe craftsmanship is one of the most powerful tools for community investment.”

I enjoyed the camaraderie of everyone working on the same project and enjoyed that we walked away with a finished product after 8 weeks. It was nice to learn unique skills, like drawing a pattern or sewing a zipper, that felt more advanced. I would have liked to sew more pieces but that would have required more weeks of class!

I enjoyed that you taught us how to make the skirt from start to finish. Learned more about picking out fabrics to use. I think you did an awesome job especially when everyone was at a different point. We still completed our projects
